Managing Your Scholarly Identity

As an author or researcher, it is important to be recognized for the great work you do. Join us on Thursday, April 4 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Cook Library room 110 to learn how to develop an online profile as a researcher to promote your work and connect your scholarly contributions with each other.

Use of a scholarly identifier can minimize confusion among authors with similar names. Participants will learn what scholarly identification systems such as ORCID and ResearcherID can do for them. ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) is an open, non-profit, community-driven effort to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers. They provide a transparent method of linking these identifiers to research activities and outputs by embedding ORCID identifiers in key workflows such as manuscript submissions, grant applications, researcher profiles, and patent applications. ResearcherID is a proprietary system of Thomson Reuters and limited to Web of Science users.
