Resource of the Month - American Children’s Books, Series 1-3

Each month, University Libraries highlights a resource from its collections. This month the featured resource is American Children’s Books, Series 1-3.

This database contains over 6,000 works for children that were printed in America between 1654 and 1819. Its contents are comprised of holdings from institutions such as the American Antiquarian Society and the Library Company of Philadelphia. Offering unparalleled insight into early American life, it has a vast collection of materials including alphabet and spelling books, Sunday school hymn books, adventure stories, and books about games and sports. The database also includes the works of notable authors such as Benjamin Franklin, Cotton Mather, and Noah Webster.
