University Libraries Introduces Primo Search
News item published on: 2014-09-18 10:42:02August 2014
University Libraries recently implemented Primo, a new search tool that allows users to perform one search across the Libraries’ catalog and databases. A single search in Primo will retrieve results from the Libraries’ catalog, USM Digital Collections, Aquila institutional repository, most of the Libraries’ subscription databases and many open access sources. Results from these various sources are combined into a single, relevancy-ranked results list.
Primo has the ability for users to create an account and save their most commonly used searches to the feature called e-Shelf. Search results can also be exported to RefWorks, the online application for managing references, retrieving bibliographic information and designing texts in terms of their literature references.
To access Primo, visit www.lib.usm.edu/primo or use the Primo search box on the Libraries home page. For help using Primo, or any other resource from the Libraries, contact the library assistance desk at any of the four libraries or use the Ask-a-Librarian service online at www.lib.usm.edu/services/forms/askalib.html.
