Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library to Celebrate National Library Week

The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus will celebrate National Library Week with book talks, book signings and a creative writing workshop on Tuesday, April 14 in room 204 of the library.

The book talks, scheduled noon-1 p.m., will feature Ronda Hatch, Terry I. Miles and Betty O'Brian. Hatch, a Long Beach native who has lived on the Gulf Coast for more than 50 years, has documented her life's miracles in the book "By His Grace: Miracles Unfolding."

Miles, an accomplished actress for coast community theater, is the author of nine books in the Cozy Little Murder Mysteries series. Herbalist O'Brian offers assistance to anyone interested in using safe and natural therapies to bring their body into balance.

The book signings, scheduled 1 - 2 p.m., will feature Kandi Anderson, Dr. Robert Pauly, Hatch, Miles and O'Brian. Anderson, who works with local American family radio station WAOY, writes and shares spiritual moments with others. Pauly, director of the international development doctoral program at Southern Miss, has authored and co-authored four books, including "U.S. Foreign Policy and the Persian Gulf" and "Islam in Europe: Integration or Marginalization?"

The free creative writing workshop will be presented by Dr. Elaine White 2-3 p.m. White, an associate professor of English and director of the Live Oak Writing Project at Southern Miss Gulf Coast, is co-author of the book "Making Your First Year a Success: A Secondary Teacher's Survival Guide."
