Library Research Assistance for Students

One of the ways that University Libraries help students succeed is by offering workshops on research skills. These workshops provide tips and techniques to identify, find and evaluate information for assignments and projects. Any student organization, resident assistant, hall director, or even a study group can request a workshop. 

The Cook Library instruction classroom (LIB 110) can accommodate up to 26 students and the Gulf Coast Library classroom (GLIB 213) can accommodate up to 22 students. If you have a larger group or prefer a different location, a reference librarian will come to you--providing a session in a classroom building, residence hall, or other suitable location on campus. Workshops may be scheduled 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Requests for workshops outside these times will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please allow seven days advance notice for all workshop requests. 

To request a workshop, use the Libraries’ instruction request form and provide the name of your group where the form asks for course name and number. Use the space provided on the form to describe the topics you’d like covered. A reference librarian will contact you to work out the details.
