Each month, University Libraries highlights a resource from its collections. This month we are featuring MathSciNet: Mathematical Reviews.
This database contains reviews, abstracts and bibliographic information for literature in the mathematical sciences, including Ph.D. theses from the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses database. More than 80,000 reviews are added each year and some bibliographic data goes back to the early 1800s.
MathSciNet is now available through EBSCOhost as well as through its original American Mathematical Society (AMS) platform. Some may find that EBSCOhost makes it much easier to browse and search through the Mathematics Subject Classification and the various indexes while others may prefer the tabs of the AMS platform for searching for journal titles and author names. Other useful features from AMS include: a tutorials page, citation data for journals, authors, articles and reviews, and a “Free Tools” page that offers a Collaboration Distance search to show the shortest publications path between two authors.
Visit the Libraries’ website to connect to MathSciNet online on the American Mathematical Society platform or EBSCOhost platform. Off-campus users will be prompted to login using their CampusID username and password.
