The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries are pleased to present William G. McAtee, a retired Presbyterian minister, for a discussion about the experiences that led to his recent work, Transformed: A White Mississippi Pastor's Journey into Civil Rights and Beyond published by University Press of Mississippi. In the late 1950s and 1960s, he served two pastorates in Mississippi, Amory and Columbia. During this turbulent time, McAtee joined a group of local ministers, two white and four black, that began opening access to public institutions and facilities for all citizens as required by the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The presentation and signing of the book will be in the Cook Library Art Gallery (LIB 105A) on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
