Southern Miss Gulf Coast Library Features Black History Collection, Hosts Brown Bag Luncheon
News item published on: 2014-02-21 13:01:00In celebration of Black History Month, the Gulf Coast Library is pleased to present on display selections from the private collection of Edward G. McCormack, associate dean and professor for Southern Miss Libraries.
McCormack’s collection includes literature, videos and artwork which represent black history from the Atlantic Slave Trade to the Civil Rights Movement, culminating with the election of the first black President of the United States.
The exhibit, located in the first and second floor display cases of the Gulf Coast Library, will be available for viewing through the month of February. A brown bag luncheon featuring McCormack discussing “Black Diaspora: the Largest Forced Worldwide Migration to Date” will be held Thursday, Feb. 27 from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in room 204 of the library.
