Gulf Coast Library Featuring Works of Artist Sam Stolte
News item published on: 2013-08-19 15:47:00The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library is currently featuring six new paintings by artist Sam Stolte, whose work is heavily influenced by abstract expressionism, contemporary art and cubism. Of the six paintings, three large oil paintings, titled Humming Murmuring No. 1, We Build Walls, and Saskatchewan Lightning Storm, hang on the library’s second floor and are available for purchase. The remaining works, Drinking Their Own, Sometimes I Sits, and Foot, Arm, In may be viewed on the library’s third floor.
Shortly after graduating from Oak Grove High School, Stolte moved to Austin, Texas, where he received his bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from Texas State University. In addition to being a well-known artist, Stolte is also a musician and slight-of-hand magician. More information about the artist and his works.
