SMIRC Code of Conduct
The Southern Miss Institutional Repository Conference (SMIRC) is dedicated to providing a safe, harassment-free environment for all participants to grow, network, and explore the latest developments and technologies to aid them in their work. All attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and participants of the conference must abide by the following code of conduct. Conference organizers and/or venue staff will enforce this code throughout the conference.
The University of Southern Mississippi Libraries are committed to the values of equality, diversity, and empowerment. In order to facilitate open dialogue in accordance with our values, all participants should engage in conversation in a manner that is respectful and does not demean, threaten, or intimidate anyone in any way, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, religion (or lack thereof), political affiliation, or any other group identity.
Harassment or intimidation of any kind in any manner will not be tolerated. Conference organizers and/or venue staff reserve the right to address any offensive behavior at their discretion, which, depending on the nature of the offense, may include removing the offending party from the conference without a refund or contacting law enforcement officials. If any participant either experiences or witnesses any of the above behaviors, they should report it to the conference organizers and/or the venue staff. We expect cooperation from all conference participants to ensure a safe, harassment-free environment for everyone involved.
