Upload Data

Follow the steps below to submit your data into Aquila.

Go to the Aquila website and click on My Account. Then follow the instructions on the screen to log in. If this is your first time using Aquila, click the Sign Up link to create an account.

Once you have logged in, go to the Research Data page and click on Submit Research. This is where you will upload your data files.

Describe Files

After clicking Submit Research, you will be taken to the submission form. Fill in the fields provided with the appropriate metadata from your research. Note that fields listed in red are required, while those listed in black are optional. (If you have questions about metadata, see the Metadata Guidelines).

Submit for Upload

Near the bottom of the submission form, you will see a field entitled Upload File. You may choose one of three upload options:

  • Upload file from your computer: Use this option if the dataset you are uploading is stored directly on your hard drive or an external drive.
  • Import file from remote site: Use this option if your data is stored on the web or in the cloud.
  • Link out to file on remote site: Use this option if the file you are uploading exceeds 2GB in size. If you use this option, leave the URL field blank, complete the rest of the form, and contact us.

Once you have uploaded the file, click Submit. This completes the upload process. If you have additional files, repeat the steps above. If not, click on My Account, then click on Log Out.

Create a DOI

We have the ability to create Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for all datasets in Aquila. DOIs provide stable, permanent URLs that will ensure that researchers will always be able to access your data regardless of any migrations. If you would like for us to assign a DOI for your dataset(s), contact us!
