Gulf Coast Library to Host Free Webinar on Writing Grant Proposals

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Libraries will host a free webinar, “Proposal Writing Basics,” on Thursday, August 16, 2012, noon-1:00 p.m. in Room 213 of the Gulf Coast Library on the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach. The webinar will be especially helpful for people who work with nonprofit groups and are looking for guidance on how to write grant proposals.

The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Libraries, which houses a collection of grant research materials, is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center at the library’s Gulf Park Campus location. “Proposal Writing Basics” is an introductory overview of the process for new proposal writers. Webinar attendees will learn how the Foundation Center’s resources can help answer the following questions: What are the key components of a proposal to a foundation or corporation? Who should sign a grant request? How should the proposal be packaged? Should you contact a funder if your proposal is turned down? Where can you find more information on proposal writing, including sample proposals?
