Science Café on the Coast presents “Making Heads and Tails of the Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper Fishery” on Tuesday, October 2 at 6 p.m. at Orange Grove Public Library.

Amanda Jefferson will give a broad overview of the history of the Gulf of Mexico red snapper fishery and the management of the fishery, and then discuss a Gulf-wide project she is involved with, known as the Great Red Snapper Count. She coordinates her efforts with the Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center and the Mississippi Alabama Sea Grant.

Science Café offers those with minimal background in science the chance to meet and discuss issues in a relaxed social setting, and is a collaboration between The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Libraries, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Harrison County Library System, Long Beach Public Library, and Hancock County Library System.

Orange Grove Public Library is located at 12135 Old Hwy 49 in Gulfport. For more information, contact Carrie-Ann Pierson at 228-832-6924. Follow us on Facebook here.
