Cook Library recently received a generous donation of the collection, "100 Books for Understanding Contemporary Japan," from the Nippon Foundation, an independent, non-profit, grant making organization that supports projects both in Japan and overseas. The Southern Miss Library was one of 300 libraries selected by the Nippon Foundation to receive this gift.

A selection of these books will be on display in the library this summer on the first floor of Cook library near the elevator. All books are in the Library's circulating collection and will be available for checkout after the exhibit ends.

The books, mostly university press publications, deal with a wide variety of topics related to Japan, including contemporary Japanese history, literature, politics, art, business, and film.
